![]() (PS: I am posting under the Help Category Music/WMP as no other category comes close to this question. ![]() As mentioned above, I suspect the downloaded files have some hidden code which prevent them from being read by USB music devices (but not by Windows).Īny help/suggestions? Many thanks in advance, Having eliminated the possibility that the stick has a problem, I conclude that the problem must be with the files themselves. Then I added an old, also downloaded, file onto that same USB stick, and that one did play! In other words, again, it is not the stick but the recent files. So to make sure that is indeed the issue, I replaced the music on that USB stick with recently downloaded music and it did not play. I read something somewhere that downloaded files nowadays are differently "coded". So that's where I suspected it may have to do the files themselves rather than with the USB stick. Then I tried another old USB stick (they are all old so that's also not the issue), also of 4GB which had some old music on it already and it played normally on the USB port of my external computer speaker. Deleting all non-letter and non-numerical characters in the file names, even renamed files to a single digit. Formatting the USB stick in all possible formats: NTFS, FAT, FAT32, ex-FAT. Just to let you know what I already went through:ġ. a Codec or something but I cannot find any solution on the internet for that so I try it here. I suspect it has to do with some hidden properties of the files e.g. I went through various "trial and error" solutions to arrive at the last potential issue namely the files themselves, not the USB stick or formatting of the USB. So first I thought it has to do with the USB stick(s). The music plays normally on my Windows 10 computer and also on my phone. Recently downloaded music on several USB sticks does not play on several audio devices I've tried: a home audio player, my car stereo, and my external computer speaker which has a USB port. ![]()
